KS3 SATs Papers are no longer formally set. From the inception of SATS in 1998 until 2009, Key Stage 3 (KS3) pupils were required to sit KS3 SATs papers in 3 core subjects: English, Maths and Science.

Since 2009 the KS3 SATs papers have been replaced with internal formal teacher assessments in each of the National Curriculum subjects: English, maths, science, history, geography, modern foreign languages, design and technology, ICT, art and design, music, physical education, citizenship and religious education.

Whilst children no longer sit formally assessed SATs tests at KS3, the KS3 SATs papers taken by pupils in the years up to 2009 continue to be highly relevant to the teacher assessments given even in 2014.
